Land of Zenith Review
The developers over at Push Gaming are known for their “perfectionist approach”, and they are not afraid to take their time with each title. In their latest release, Land of Zenith, you’ll join a motley crew of steampunk pirates traveling amongst city islands floating in the sky. Not a super-original theme perhaps, but it syncs well with the highly unusual features.
Granted, the base game Bouncing Mystery feature is mostly original in the way it’s triggered, and we have seen the Hypermode Free Spins feature once feature before (in Joker Troupe). However, all in all this game adds up to a pretty original and exciting thrill-ride, if you have the stomach for the accelerating “hit or miss” bonus round.

The wild symbol will step in for all regular pay symbols, like wilds usually do, and it shares the top payer spot with the “Super-High value” top hat sky pirate. Both symbols pay 200x your stake for 6 on a payline, a full 100x higher than the highest regular premium symbol.

The massive Disc structure on the left-hand side is not just there to please the eye, it’s also used to trigger the game’s 2 core features. The Disc Trigger Mechanism comes with an inner, middle and outer segment. You will land clockwise and anti-clockwise Turner symbols on reels 2, 4 and 6, and these move each of the disc layers correspondingly.
When all 3 of the disc segment grooves align fully in the base game, you trigger the Bouncing Mystery feature.
A blueish glowing orb shoots from the middle of the grid, bouncing off the reel edges to split in two and create randomly placed mystery symbols all over the place. Colliding orbs vanish and leave 5 mystery symbols shaped as a cross. Once all orbs have vanished, the mystery symbols reveal an identical symbol that might give you a larger payout. The Disc Mechanism might turn golden on any given spin, and that’s when you really want the 3 Disc segment grooves to line up. This triggers the Hypermode Bonus Round. Instead of the usual fixed number of spins, you get 20 seconds of free spins to start with.
The speed of the reels increase per wild symbol you land, and each wild is also collected in the Retrigger Meter the Disc Mechanism has now turned into.
When the meter is filled, you get 10 extra seconds of free spins. This will often happen quite a few times, and there is no upper limit on how many retriggers you can achieve. The first 4 retriggers remove the low paying symbols one by one, leaving you with nothing but premiums and wilds on the reels. There are no other modifiers during the bonus round, and you cannot trigger the Bouncing Mystery feature during the Hypermode Free Spins.
The 200 Spins Land of Zenith Experience
Nothing too interesting happened in the base game until we managed to trigger the Bouncing Mystery feature. This happens at the 1-minute mark of the 3-minute highlights video you can check out below. The Hypermode Bonus Round is triggered at 1:55 into the video, and we got quite a few retriggers. See how we fared in sky pirate land by hitting the play button!
Review Summary
Push Gaming is known for excellent build quality, and hardly anything is left to chance in Land of Zenith, except, of course, the gameplay itself. The steampunk theme is hardly the most original thing about this game, but the audiovisual presentation is still rock solid. Perhaps 1 or 2 extra base game features would have served this title well, as the base game can be a bit of a grind between the sole Mystery Symbol triggers.
The Hypermode Bonus Round is still an intense experience, like it was in Joker Troupe.
The volatility is rather extreme though, and you need to be mentally prepared for free spin rounds that are over in a blink with nothing to show for. When everything goes your way however, and low value symbols disappear one by one, racking up massive payouts in warp speed is certainly possible.Pros
- Base game mystery symbols feature
- Hypermode™ bonus round
- Win up to 21,003x your stake
Cons
- Base game could do with 1-2 extra modifiers
If you enjoy Land of Zenith you should also try:
Joker Troupe - is the Push Gaming title that first introduced us to the Hypermode bonus round, and this game also comes with 2 interesting joker features in the base game. The RTP is a bit higher here, and so is the 25,367x your stake potential.
Riders of the Storm - is a highly volatile steampunk title from Thunderkick, and it comes with 5 reels and 243 win ways. The bonus round comes with 4 options, all involving walking wild multipliers, and you can win up to 26,246x your stake.
Sky Hunters - is a steampunk slot from Kalamaba, and it comes with 3 Hyperbet levels. Lucky Loops expand symbols every 10th spin, and you will benefit from a bonus round with up to 9 expanding symbols. This can lead to payouts hovering above 4,000x your stake.
