We reckon many players will agree that quality is of greater importance than quantity. The provider tries to release games in different genres, with a diverse abundance of functions, plus a lot of attention is paid to the visual design of games so that the player feels as immersed in the process as possible. According to preliminary data, the wide release of the game will take place at the end of the 1st quarter of 2022, so we are writing this review based on the demo version of the game. Despite this, at first glance it becomes clear that the game inherits the original in many ways. Speaking about the visual design, it is worth noting that it is made in the same Ancient Greece theme, so, again, the actions take place on the floating island of Aeolia, which is ruled by Aeolus, the God of Storm.

A slight difference regarding the background is that the main game is played in the daytime when there are no clouds in the sky and the sea is calm (during the Wild Wind Respins bonus round, the sky becomes cloudy and a storm begins). In addition, there is one more detail that may seem insignificant to some, but still: the grid in Age of the Gods: God of Storms 2 takes up almost the entire screen, and therefore you will pay little attention to the picturesque background, while in the original version, the grid occupied a smaller area, allowing players to admire the scenery of the mythical island.

The symbol set has remained unchanged: you will have 5 premium symbols and 5 low-value symbols that consist of A-10 royals. Among the premium symbols, you will find, in ascending order, Antique Rune Vase, Hydra Water Serpent, Archer Warrior, Female Warrior and Spartan, which pay between 150x and 500x for 5-of-a-kind on a payline. However, in this game, all the characters have received an upgrade - they look more realistic and colourful. As before, winning combinations are paid from the leftmost reel if there are at least 2 identical symbols on a payline.

The working panel, which is located under the reels, has also remained almost unchanged: on the left side there is an “i” icon that will take you to the paytable and description of functions, and after this icon, you will see a button that adjusts the number of active lines.

On the right side of the working panel is the autospin option, where you can choose from 10 to 100 autospins (or until feature), as well as a handy turbo mode option that speeds up the process of spinning the reels. From a technical point of view, this slot has the same features as the original version, but they have their nuances.

The only thing missing from this release is the bonus round win multiplier. In the base game, standard wilds can help you, but the main action still takes place in the bonus round. However, at any stage of the game, you have a chance to get into the pick'em game, where you are guaranteed to get one of the 4 Progressive Jackpots. Anyway, if you are familiar with the original game, then you will not be surprised by the fact that the game focuses on the respins feature.

Stacked Wilds

Wilds can land on the grid at any stage of the game (reels 2, 3 and 4 only). Here, there are 2 types of wilds - standard wild and Ship Wild, and they both appear stacked. Both wilds substitute for regular symbols, but they cannot substitute for each other, and they also have no value of their own. Usually, when a sequel to a game is released, it's natural to assume that the developer was able to improve/add some stuff compared to the first part. Did Playtech Vikings manage to improve the previous version with this release or is it just an unimpressive copy. Well, we think that the developer did a pretty good job: you will get updated graphics and almost all the same features that were in the original slot. The new slot machine lacks the bonus round multiplier, but it makes up for it with the new Extended reels feature and vastly increased win potential – up to 4100x your current stake. Thus, when playing with a maximum bet of €500, you could win up to €2,050,000. Alas, the situation with payouts is overshadowed by RTP ranges, which take a considerable percentage of your winnings.
