Hot Spin Megaways Review

The Hot Spin concept has been somewhat of a success story for iSoftBet, and the Megaways version seems like a perfect way for the series to culminate, and end on a high note. At least for the time being, as we are sure iSoftBet has more follow-ups in the works if Hot Spin Megaways is a hit. As punters familiar with the licenced engine can probably imagine, it’s basically the same game as the 2 originals, but with more of everything.

The Deluxe version came with some extra modifiers, but more importantly, a significantly higher potential than the first game. However, that’s peanuts compared to the 50,000x max win you get here. With even more exciting modifiers from the Hot Wheel, as well as cascading dynamic reels, the Megaways version seems like a no-brainer option compared to the predecessors.

Hot Spin Megaways Features

The Cascading Reels feature kicks in whenever you land a winning combo, and this removes all winning symbols from the grid. You have wilds to help you in that regard, landing on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 only, and stepping in for all regular pay symbols. The gaps from the removed winning symbols are filled with new or existing symbols dropping from above, and the process repeats as long as you keep winning.

The Hot Spin Wheel seen on the left-hand side can trigger at random times, and this awards 1 of the 9 modifiers we’ll describe briefly below:

• Wild - awards 5 to 8 wilds randomly to the grid.
• Super Wild - awards 8 to 12 wilds randomly to the grid.
• In Sync - synchronizes up to 3 reels with matching symbols.
• Super In Sync - does the same with up to all 6 reels.
• Wild Reels - turn reels 2, 3 and 4 wild.
• Super Wild Reels - does the same, but the wild reels come with multipliers of x2, x3 or x5.

  

  Mystery Symbols - awards 6 to 10 mystery symbols randomly placed, and these turn into a randomly selected matching symbol.
• Super Mystery Symbols - does the same, but you can get up to 16 mystery symbols.
• Max Megaways - all 6 reels land with 7 rows, giving you a 117,649 win ways spin.
• Bonus Trigger - awards the Hot Spin free spins bonus round.

The Hot Spin Bonus Round can also be triggered when you land 4 bonus wheel scatters anywhere in the same cascading sequence. You get to choose between 4 free spins options as follows:

• 5 free spins with a x5 starting multiplier.
• 10 free spins with a x3 starting multiplier.
• 15 free spins with a x1 starting multiplier.
• Mystery option - awards 5 to 15 free spins and x1 to x5 starting multiplier.

The multiplier increases by +1 per cascading win, and it applies to the next win you get. As is usually the case in Megaways titles, the multiplier comes with no upper limit, and you can also win +3 and +5 extra spins by landing 2 or 3 scatters during the same cascading sequence.

The Free Spins feature comes with a somewhat different Hot Spin Wheel, and it triggers at random times during the feature. The available bonus round modifiers apply to a single spin when triggered, and they are as follows:

• Random Wilds - awards 5 to 12 wilds randomly placed on the reels.
• Max Megaways - awards a spin where all 117,649 win ways active.
• Mystery Symbols - awards 6 to 15 mystery symbols randomly placed on the reels.
• Multiplier Boost - increases the multiplier by +3.
• Symbols Removed - removes all low-value fruit symbols.

The 200 Spins Hot Spin Megaways Experience

The highlights video starts out rather uneventful, with one dead spin after another. Then we suddenly land 4 scatters around 0:40 into the 2-minute video, and we tried our luck with the Mystery option.

Review Summary

In retrospect, it seems pretty inevitable that iSoftBet’s Hot Spin series culminated in a Megaways release. The Hot Wheel modifiers meshes perfectly with the dynamic reels grid, as well as the cascading wins mechanic. That being said, it would have been fun to see the thing triggered a bit more often. Perhaps a symbol collection or cyclic trigger would have done it more justice, but you do get the enhanced spin on a semi-regular basis.

The best argument for picking this game over the originals is undoubtedly the 50,000x potential. That’s 10x higher than the Deluxe version (and 100x the original), and despite the massive max win difference, the 95.98 % RTP remains virtually unchanged. If you enjoyed the predecessors, we see no reason why you would not love an installment where everything is bigger, bolder and maxed out. As for new players, this Megaways version is really the only one you need.
