Lord Of The Wilds Review
Tarzan is a character this reviewer remembers mostly as a childhood hero, and he’s long since been overshadowed by a popular culture that demands a lot more explosions and special effects than the king of the jungle can dish up with in his adventures. The Alexander Skarsgaard movie from 2016, The Legend of Tarzan, gave this jungle hero a brief upswing, but it’s perhaps a bit late to try to cash in on that now, as Microgaming already did with their Tarzan slot from 2016.
That being said, Red Tiger has come up with a very well-made and interesting game with Lord Of The Wilds, and it deserves a longer shelf-life than it probably will have. It would have helped if Red Tiger upped their game when it comes to the math model, as this is the main drawback of Lord Of The Wilds slot. The game itself is centered around the romance between Tarzan and Jane, and their respective features reflect this in a clever way that can also lead to massive wild wins.
We certainly experienced a taste of this in our 200 spins test session, and you can find out all about that further down in the review. The game is set in the jungle (where else, right), and it plays out on 5 reels, 4 rows and 30 fixed paylines. Tarzan can swing across the screen at any time and turn symbols into his image. Jane, on the other hand, can blow her magic kiss to charm the Tarzan symbols into wilds. The bonus round comes with sticky wilds, and you can win up to 2,100x your stake on this wild and volatile jungle game from Red Tiger.

What are the bonus features?
The wild symbol in this game is basically the same as the highest paying Tarzan symbol, but with the word “wild” slapped in front of the somewhat dramatic portrait. The wild can step in for all regular symbols to help form winning combos, and as the title indicates, it also plays a very central part in this game’s bonus features.
Tarzan’s love interest, Jane, will sometimes appear in the middle of the screen. She will blow a kiss that turns all regular Tarzan symbols into wild symbols. The wilds become frozen in place for the next spin, which can lead to some decent payouts if you’re lucky. Any Tarzan symbol that lands adjacent to the Jane symbol will also turn into a sticky wild, and this happens quite a lot.
You also have a very cool feature called Tarzan’s Treasure.
At random times you’ll see the King of the Jungle swing across the reels on a liana, and he’ll add a bunch of high value Tarzan symbols randomly across the grid. This can also lead to some nice payouts with a bit of luck, and the 2 features can even combine so that all the Tarzan symbols added turn into wilds.Free spins in Lord Of The WildsThe bonus round is supposedly the highlight of this game, and you trigger it by landing at least 3 golden elephant free spins symbols anywhere on the same spin. You get 10 free spins when you land 3 scatters, and you also get 5 extra spins per extra scatter you land above the minimum of 3. All wilds you land become sticky for the duration of the bonus round, and with all this wild action in mind you probably understand why Red Tiger chose the title they did for this game.
How to play
We like how simple and open Red Tiger’s game interface is, as it leaves plenty of room and does not distract from the game too much. How to play a slot might not be all that complicated for experienced players, but beginners might wanna pay attention to this section. We’ll walk you through everything you need to know to get started with Lord Of The Wilds here, and perhaps a few things you don’t need to know also.
You can start by selecting your bet level via the stake icon down in the left-hand side corner. The bet range spans from 10p to £40 per spin in this game, which is a decent bet range that’s still a bit curbed compared to many other games. This seems to be a recurring issue with Red Tiger.
Their math model is kind of watered down compared to the norm.To get to the game’s paytable, you can either go via the hamburger menu up in the right corner, or you can click “pays” below the stake button. In there, you need to scroll through all the bonus feature info to get to the actual paytable on slide 5. This is a static paytable that does not update according to your chosen stake.
Lord Of The WildsTo figure out how much each symbol combination pays out per total stake, you therefore need to divide the respective values by 30 (which is the number of fixed paylines in this game). The Tarzan Wild is the highest value symbol, and it pays 10x your stake for 5 on a payline. The regular Tarzan symbol pays 6x for 5 on a payline in comparison.
Before you get started, you also need to decide if you want to spin the reels manually, or if you prefer the autoplay feature. The latter can be set up via the “auto” button next to the stake button, and you can choose between 10 and 100 autospins.
You can also set a loss limit up to £10,000 and a win limit up to £100,000. That’s it, you’re now ready to swing from the treetops and chase the big wild wins in the damp jungle.Where to play Lord Of The Wilds?

When we first heard the title, “Lord of the Wilds”, we were sure the game would be based around the classic masterpiece, Lord of the Flies, but no, this is all about Tarzan, Jane and the “wild times” they have together. Somewhat disappointed by the missed opportunity for a truly original theme, we soon realized that there is plenty of fun contained in this game.
The pace is a bit slow without the turbo switched on, but that can be good if you want to savor each spin. We had plenty of sticky wilds here and there during the base game, but many times they did not lead to anything of significance. This is natural with this kind of volatility, and we also had plenty of dead spins in our 200 spins test session.
Things can happen out of the blue here, and towards the middle of our session we suddenly hear the classic jungle roar “OooooooH” followed by Tarzan swinging towards us at high speed. This turned a whopping 12 symbols into Tarzan symbols, and we already had 2 from before on the reels. But what is Tarzan without the love of his life, Jane, and low and behold, there she was also.
She blew her blessed kiss towards her ape king lover, and this turned all 14 Tarzan symbols into high value wilds. This gave us a Super Win of 74.4x our stake, and we were taken up into the treetops where Jane was waiting patiently for her jungle king to return to their secret love nest. However, we are not quite finished with this love story just yet.
Remember, we also had a respin coming, with all 14 wilds sticky. Now, we landed more Tarzan symbols, and the screen got almost filled with wilds and tarzan symbols, except for 1 annoying little low paying royal. Still, the “mega win” landed us 170.3x our stake, and apparently this was big enough for Tarzan to come join his beloved in their treetop love nest and literally sweep her off her feet.
After a few dead spins, we finally triggered the bonus round with 3 scatters. We kept getting sticky wilds in the beginning, but ended up with 4 most of the bonus round. This kept landing us some okay wins, but in the end we won “only” 35.2x our stake from this feature. All in all, we did pretty well from our session, and the game is certainly one of the better Tarzan slots out there, although there aren’t that many.
Review Summary
Lord Of The Wilds has all the ingredients that’s needed for a solid game, except the math model. The audiovisual presentation is solid, the animations and the love story works hand in hand with the wild features and the game comes with a decent bonus round. Why oh why, Red Tiger, do you insist on watering down your math model to ruin an otherwise solid game like this?
Why is the max win only 2,100x your stake in such a volatile game. Why is the RTP of 95.66 % below the industry standard and why do you bother with the customizable RTP ranges that just creates uncertainty for players. That being said, we still thoroughly enjoyed our session, and if you don’t care too much about the math model, you will probably enjoy this game too.
Pros
- Tarzan swings to add random tarzan symbols
- Jane blows a kiss to turn all tarzan symbols into wilds
- Free spins with sticky wilds
Cons
- RTP is below average and can be set even lower by operators
- Max win of 2,100x is a bit low for this volatility

As we write this review, there is only 7 games tagged with Tarzan in our catalog, but you’ll find 274 games via the broader Jungle theme tag. Below, we’ve handpicked some games that we think you’ll enjoy if you liked the game at hand.
Tarzan - is perhaps the most iconic and well-known game about the king of the jungle up to now. It’s a relatively new release, and it comes with very nice 3D animations and plenty of exciting bonus features. This is a medium volatile game that caters to casual players, but you can still win up to 2,750x your stake (which is a significantly higher potential than the game at hand).
Heart of the Jungle - depicts Jane and Tarzan as they have settled into their jungle life, and they are now searching for lost treasures. The game has plenty of bonus features, and the big highlight is the 4 different bonus rounds you can unlock. You can also unlock something called “payment boosts”, which increase the payouts from the free spin rounds.
Jungle King - comes with 1,024 ways to win, and wilds that can land on the 3 middle reels. You can also get up to 20 free spins in the bonus round here, and you are guaranteed a stacked wild on 1 of the 3 middle reels in the feature. There is also a classic pick’em bonus game to look forward to, as well as wins up to 2,000x your stake.
