Gimme Gold. Megaways Review
This is hardly Inspired Gaming’s first rodeo with the Megaways engine, but it is their first glaring copycat attempt. Gimme Gold. Megaways looks visually cheaper than Blueprint’s popular Diamond Mine Megaways, and it’s got the stats to back it up too. The 95.5 % RTP is below what’s on offer in the obvious source of inspiration, and in addition the max bet has been lowered from £100 to only £10 per spin.
To top it off, you get only +2 extra free spins per extra scatter above the minimum of 4 here, while Diamond Mine offers +5 extra spins per extra scatter. Both games are highly volatile and come with a capped max win of £250,000. However, while Blueprint’s Diamond Mine was the first BTG-licenced release, Gimme Gold.
Megaways comes across as a boring run-of-the-mill effort that will fail to impress any gamers with an iota of experience.Gimme Gold. Megaways Reel ScreenGimme Gold. Megaways Features
You should decide up front whether or not you want to activate the Fortune Bet option. It will increase your regular bet size with 50 %, but more barrel scatters are then added to increase your bonus round chances. Inspired provides no stats on this however, making it hard to say if it’s a good idea or not.

The wild symbols will appear in the top horizontal reel only, and they step in for all regular pay symbols to help you form winning combos.
Every winning combo triggers the Cascading Wins feature, where winning symbols are removed to be replaced by new symbols dropping from above. This goes on as long as you keep winning, giving you an indefinite amount of extra wins per paid spin. The dynamite bundle Mystery Symbol can land on all the reels, transforming all instances of itself into a randomly chosen pay symbol. This feature comes in handy to keep your Cascading winning streak going, and to help you land larger payouts.
You need to land at least 4 barrel scatters on the same spin to trigger the bonus round. The minimum of 4 scatters awards 12 free spins, while each extra scatter gives you +2 extra free spins up to a maximum of 80 spins. The progressive bonus round win multiplier starts at 1x, and will increase with +1 for each Cascading win. Land 3 or 4 scatters (top reel only) to win 5 or 10 extra free spins, respectively.
The 200 Spins Gimme Gold. Megaways Experience
We were not overly enthusiastic about testing yet another Bonanza spin-off, or should we say Diamond Mine Megaways clone. However, any new Megaways title always contains some excitement due to the massive potential, if not anything else.
We’ve put together a brief and edited highlights video, where the best moments from our test session have been captured for your viewing pleasure.Review Summary
Even Inspired Gaming can run out of “inspiration” it seems, something Gimme Gold. Megaways utterly proves. If this was their Megaways debut it would still be a boring “starter pack” rip-off, but at least it would be somewhat understandable. Having released highly creative and solid titles with the licenced engine before, it’s hard to understand why they wouldn’t attempt to do something more fun and innovative with the already overused Bonanza-spin-off diamond mine concept.
The only “innovation” here is the Fortune Bet feature. However, without proper stats it’s hard for players to gauge whether or not it’s worth paying 50 % extra per spin. We don’t doubt the claim that the bonus round will trigger more often, but we would like to know the exact numbers.
On a final note, does Inspired really think savvy players will prefer a below-average-RTP clone like this, when the visually superior Diamond Mine Megaways comes with a solid RTP, 10x higher max bet and the same capped max win of £250,000.Pros
- Cascading wins and Mystery symbols
- Bonus round w/ unlimited progressive multiplier
- Win up to £250,000 (max win cap)
Cons
- Cheap-looking Diamond Mine Megaways rip-off
- Weaker RTP and low max bet
- Fortune Bet stats not disclosed
If you enjoy Gimme Gold. Megaways you should also try:
Diamond Mine Megaways - is a solid Bonanza spin-off from Blueprint, and it comes with the same features as the game at hand. Mystery symbols and cascading wins keeps the base game interesting, while the unlimited bonus round multiplier can lead to payouts up to £250,000. RTP is higher, and so is the max bet.
Bonanza - is the ultra-popular and iconic BTG title that sparked the whole Megaways frenzy. Many a copycat has been made, but the original is as hard to dethrone as Gonzo’s Quest or Starburst. Reaction wins and unlimited bonus round multiplier is standard stuff these days, but it was a revolution back in 2016.
Bonanza Megapays - is BTG’s highly anticipated jackpot version of their most famous game. All the familiar features from the original are carried over into this version, but now you can also land 4 progressive jackpots.
The big one seeds at £300,000, and time will tell how high it can climb.Related Slots
