Mega Heist Review

Prison break movies and TV shows are always exciting, and the same can be said about heist movies. It’s therefore a stroke of genius to combine the two highly engaging themes into one and the same slot, which is exactly what Relax Gaming has done with Mega Heist. The base game starts you out in the slammer, which admittedly is not too exciting, but you need only 2 bonus scatters in view to create a riot and attempt to escape.

The Escape Bonus can also trigger the main feature, which is the Mega Heist bonus. This is where the big scores are to be taken down, and it plays out as 3 progressively more lucrative heist jobs. You start by robbing a Gas Station, before moving on to a Club, and finally you will be robbing a bank for up to 15,000x the stake. The 3D video game style visuals makes this all the more engaging, and Mega Hest is a solid and innovative release we recommend that you check out immediately.

Mega Heist Slot Features

You win by landing matching symbols from the uttermost left to the right on adjacent reels, and the symbols must also be on the same row, or on the row above or below. You win between 6 and 20 x your stake for 5 of a kind with the premium symbols, and the Wild symbol can appear anywhere to step in for pay symbols.

This helps complete and/or improve wins.

You need 2 bonus symbols in view to trigger the Escape Bonus, which triggers a prison riot where up to 4 robbers will try to escape. They move from left to right, and each robber comes with a bet multiplier or bonus symbol attached. The robbers need to make it to the Safe Zone to the uttermost right to add their respective prizes to the total win.

Cops can pop up on the top reel at random times, and they arrest one of the robbers if he is on the same row. The feature ends if there are no more robbers in view, and you upgrade to the Mega Heist Bonus if at least one robber with a bonus symbol makes it to the Safe Zone. You can get up to 3 extra bonus symbols if you trigger the Mega Heist this way, which gives you more robbers as described below.

The Mega Heist Bonus Round can also be triggered from the base game, if you land 3, 4, or 5 bonus symbols in view.

This gives you 10, 15, or 30 robbers, respectively, and the Mega Heist feature comes with 3 levels. The max win potential increases per level, and you can win up to 150x your stake in the Gas Station level, up to 1,500x in the Club level, and up to 15,000x your stake in the Bank level.

The Robbers move from the left to the right in this feature as well, and they carry bet multiplier prizes. In addition, they can pick up different power-up symbols that spawn on the grid, and they need to reach the right-hand side Safe Zone to add their prize to the total win. The good news is that robbers are recycled, and added back into the robber’s pool once they reach the safe zone.

Each bet multiplier prize that’s added to the total win decreases the total amount that’s left in the Bank accordingly, and when the bank meter reaches zero you’re taken to the next level. The coppers can pop up to arrest robbers, and the feature ends when your robber pool reaches zero and there are no more active robbers in view.

The bank meter is decreased when robbers pick up multiplier power-ups as well, and spread across all 3 levels you can get the following power-up symbols:

  • Multiplier - boosts the robber’s prize by x2, x3, x5, or x10.
  • Extra Robbers - adds 1, 2, 3, or 5 extra robbers to the pool.
  • Police uniform - disguises the robber so he cannot be arrested.
  • Motorbike - carries 1 or 2 robbers directly to the safe zone.
  • Bus - carries up to 8 robbers directly to the safe zone.

On a final note, non-UK players, and anyone eligible, can take advantage of the Bonus Buy feature. If eligible, you can thus pay 150x your stake for the Mega Heist Bonus, and this will start you off with 10, 15, or 30 robbers. The bonus buy RTP increases to 96.5 %.

The 200 Spins Mega Heist Slot Experience

You get an uneventful taste of the base game, before we purchase the Mega Heist Bonus at 0:44 into the 2:35-minute highlights video. We got the minimum of 3 triggering scatters, which gave us 10 starting robbers in the pool, and you can see for yourself how much we got away with by hitting the play button below.

Review Summary

Relax Gaming has flirted with somewhat similar 3D-style games before, and Marching Legions and Snake Arena comes to mind.

Mega Heist Slot Gameplay 822

Mega Heist comes across as more exciting, however, and breaking out of prison is only the first step to riches in this game. The “prison life” base game is admittedly not all that exciting, but the Mega Heist Bonus certainly makes up for that tedious grind in a major way. Taking advantage of the bonus buy, if you are eligible, will probably be tempting though, so be warned.

We have seen similar things before, in Mad Cars from Push Gaming, for example, but we had a great time getting these charming little robbers across the finish line. We also like that you can level up to ever more daring heists, but you need to get to Bank level 3 to truly take down a big score. With up to 15,000x being possible in that level, the overall max win is 16,591x your stake. We have a feeling that Mega Heist will be well received, and it might just represent a breakthrough for this video game style slot genre.

Pros

  • Escape Bonus may lead to Mega Heist Bonus
  • 3-level Mega Heist Bonus w/ power-up symbols
  • Win up to 15,000x your stake in level 3
  • The overall max win is 16,591x your stake

Cons

  • Beware of customizable RTP ranges
