For starters, we have to say that Blood and Gold’s playing field is quite straightforward, offering a combination of 5 reels, 3 rows and 25 paylines.

The theme of Blood and Gold focuses on two warring factions, and it’s pretty clear that it’s supposed to be a good-against-evil type of battle. After all, one of the factions is being led by a noble king, while the other seems to be led by a dark sorceress. The game’s visuals are easy to look at, and we certainly like how the entire package looks and feels.

Let’s now move onto the slot’s mathematical model. Its volatility level is medium, and you can win up to 2,300x your bet, which is reasonable.

Blood and Gold Slot Features

Blood and Gold comes with a set of 9 symbols, which can be split into 5 low pays and 4 high pays. As you’d probably expect, the slot’s low pays offer nothing more but card ranks from Tens to Aces. They do come with fairly intricate designs, though, so there’s that at the very least. For high pays, there are battle horns, trebuchets, and two character symbols that represent the leaders of the two warring factions.

There are also two special symbols in the mix, Banner Wilds and Shield Scatters.

The Battle Rounds feature is the central point of the entire Blood and Gold slot, and you can get to it by landing 6-15 Shield Scatters in view. This will net you both a coin win and a feature trigger. First, you’ll have to pick a side, and you can pick either the Blue kingdom or the Red kingdom.

After each spin, there will be a battle in which you’ll want to match 2 of your kingdom’s flags to win it. You’ll start with 3 lives, and each loss will cost you one of them. Fortunately, you can land unique Heart Scatters to get a life point back, though they can appear only on the middle reel and though you can never have more than 4 lives. In any case, the entire feature continues for as long as you have one or more lives, which can be quite some time indeed!

Review Summary

All in all, Blood and Gold is like a comfort food of sorts. It looks good, it’s engaging, and you can have lots of fun with its Battle Round feature. That feature isn’t as complex as it might seem at first glance, though, and Blood and Gold doesn’t have all that much to back it up with.
